Traditionally an attractive park sheep, the Jacob sheep is now a popular breed. It has a wonderful black and white fleece that allows several different colour ways and is very popular with hand spinners.
Both male and female animals have horns. Here in the southeast the majority are 2 horned but in the north of the country 4 horns are the norm. It is possible for rams to have 6 horns!
Our sheep are generally shorn late May/early June so that I can sort through all the fleeces and decide which ones can be hand spun or colour sorted to be commercially spun into yarn for hand knitting/weaving.
